- Ensure Bluetooth is Enabled: Make sure that your Windows laptop has Bluetooth functionality and it’s turned on. You can usually enable Bluetooth through the Windows settings or by pressing a function key on your laptop’s keyboard (if it has one). You can also use Windows search to for “Bluetooth and other devices setting”.
- Put Your AirPods in Pairing Mode: If your AirPods are not already in pairing mode, you can do this by following these steps:
- Place your AirPods in their charging case.
- Open the lid of the charging case.
- Press and hold the button on the back of the case until the LED on the front of the case starts flashing white.
- Pair Your AirPods with Windows:
- On your Windows laptop, go to the “Settings” menu. You can usually access this by clicking the Start button and then the gear-shaped icon.
- In the Settings menu, select “Devices.”
- Add a Bluetooth Device:
- In the Devices settings, click on “Bluetooth & other devices” on the left sidebar.
- Under “Bluetooth,” make sure Bluetooth is turned on.
- Click the “+ Add Bluetooth or other device” button.
- Select Your AirPods:
- In the “Add a device” window, select “Bluetooth.”
- Windows will now search for available Bluetooth devices. Look for your AirPods in the list of available devices and click on them to initiate the pairing process.
- Complete Pairing:
- Follow any on-screen instructions to complete the pairing process. You may be prompted to confirm the pairing on your AirPods by pressing the button on the back of the charging case.
- Connected: Once successfully paired, your AirPods will be connected to your Windows laptop. You should hear a sound confirming the connection.
- Audio Settings (Optional): You can adjust the audio settings for your AirPods in the Windows sound settings. Right-click the speaker icon in the system tray and select “Open Sound settings.” Under “Output,” select your AirPods as the default playback device if they are not already set as such.
Your AirPods are now connected to your Windows laptop, and you can use them to listen to audio, make calls, and more. Keep in mind that some features like Siri functionality or automatic ear detection may not work on Windows as they do on Apple devices, as these features are primarily designed for Apple’s ecosystem.
